Well I knew I'd get it at some point. As of today I have a mild cough, a slightly runny nose and a positive lateral flow test.
Irritatingly I don't know how long I've had Covid. Up until I recently ran out of LFTs I was being really good about testing, and I have been to four chemists and scoped out one vaccination centre (which had a big sign up outside saying 'sorry, we have no LFT tests') since Wednesday before I finally managed to get hold of another this morning. To be honest after all the negative results it was a bit surreal to finally get a positive.
I'm not entirely happy with myself though because I accepted a lift from an older family member yesterday, and I've had hayfever for about ten days, which, with hindsight, I realise may have masked some of the symptoms (ironically I wasted my last LFTs testing daily that the hayfever wasn't Covid). I'm conscious it's a risk neither of us would have taken six months ago. On the other hand my aunt is fully vaccinated and I only just started this very mild cough today today, so hopefully I'm right at the start and wasn't infectious yesterday and/or she will be sufficiently immune not to pick it up.
In the meantime I've ordered more LFTs online, and my manager has agreed to me isolating and working remotely. Fingers crossed!
